Saint Matthews is a very popular suburb of Louisville, located to the east of Downtown and holds some of Louisville's most expensive neighborhoods such as Indian Hills, Glenview and Mockingbird Valley, as well as a few more moderate neighborhoods, such as Windy Hills and Beechwood Village.
In addition to some of the area's most desirable homes, St Matthews also encompasses one of Louisville's famous public parks, Seneca Park. This park is a very large oval with a walking track, tennis courts, soccer fields, softball fields as well as a few field hockey fields. On pleasant spring and summer evenings, the park will be very well attended. An added bonus is that one of Louisville's best ice cream shops is close by!
And of course, there is always shopping. St Matthews is well known for small boutique shops as well as the city's largest malls. And wherever there are nice homes and good shopping, fine dining can't be far behind. And sure enough, St. Matthews is home to all sorts of restaurants, from fast food, to mid-level restaurants all the way up to some of Louisville's very finest restaurants.

Seeing as how I live in the St Matthews area of Louisville, I have driven on or by just about every street. Usually, it is quite unremarkable, as I am simply driving from one place to another. But on other days, I will actually grab a video camera, or simply use my iPhone, and take a short video or two of the area, to better help potential clients get a better idea of the area. The St Matthews area continues to sell well, even in this depressed market, at least in relation to other parts of town. I wouldn't say any part of town is exactly selling like hot cakes, but the homes for sale in St Matthews generally are on the market less and fetch a higher price than other comparable homes in different parts of town.
