Crescent Hill

Crescent Hill historic home picture Crescent Hill is a very popular suburb of Louisville, located to the east of Downtown, roughly up and down Frankfort Avenue between Ewing and Cannons Lane. However, there are some people who call the area in between Ewing and Downtown, Crescent Hill, even though it is more accurately known as Clifton, Clifton Heights or some other smaller neighborhood name.

The area we now know as Crescent Hill once was call Beargrass, because of it’s close proximity to Beargrass Creek and the ridge it sits on between different parts of the creek. The area began to be settled and developed in the mid-1800′s, and was later taken over by the City Of Louisville in the late 1800′s.

There is a wide variety of architecture to be found in this community, including wood sided Victorians, brick homes, bungalows and just about everything in between. In addition, almost every street in the area is very close to small shops, such as bakeries, wine stores, book stores, coffee shops, etc… which makes homes in this area always one of the most in demand sections of town.

Homes For Sale in Crescent Hill

I often drive in and through this area as part of my normal commute. In addition, some of my favorite shops are on Frankfort Ave, such as Blue Dog Bakery, and I try to remember to take my camera with me anytime I am in the area.  If I have time to take a few pictures, why not also take the time to make a little video, right? Early in 2010, on a cold morning, I had a little extra time, and put together just a small sample of what some streets in Crescent Hill look like, the kinds of homes, as well as some of the businesses you can find.
